2012年から2024年までのESCIF（エシフ）の12年間の仕事をまとめた600ページの新刊作品集。ESCIFはスペインのグラフィティライター／アーティスト。この新刊のタイトル『Il cimento dell' armonia e del’inventione』はアントニオ・ヴィヴァルディが作曲した12のヴァイオリン協奏曲で、最初の4曲は「四季（Le Quattro Stagioni）」として知られている。本書は「5つの変容の理論（五元素理論としても知られる。重要な物質、または気が変容の5つの段階をどのように循環させるかを説明する漢方の理論）」に基づいて構成されている。直線的な説明を避け、交差的、横断的、キュビスム的な物語が語られる。そして百科事典の持つ「権威」のパロディと、スポンジケーキ的な脱構築の交わるようなデザインを持つ書物としてデザインされている。

ESCIFはスペイン、バレンシア出身のアーバン・アーティスト。1996年からグラフィティを描いている。壁画、公共空間への介入、ビデオ、インスタレーション、ドローイングなど、現代の人類のあり方を反映した作品を精力的に制作している。日本のSIDE COREやイギリスのバンクシーにも通ずる（実際バンクシーの運営する出版社POW(Pictures on Walls)にも所属していた）、ポエティクスとポリティクスを往還するような作品が特徴。本書は、創造性の基礎を定義／再定義し続けようとする絶え間ない発展と探求のクロニクル。

A new 600-page collection of work from 12 years of ESCIF's work from 2012 to 2024. ESCIF is a Spanish graffiti writer/artist. The title of this new book, Il cimento dell' armonia e del'interventione, is a suite of 12 concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, the first four of which are known as the Four Seasons (Le Quattro Stagioni). The book is based on the ‘Theory of the Five Transformations (also known as the Theory of the Five Elements, also known as the Theory of the Five Elements). (a theory in Chinese medicine that explains how important substances, or qi, circulate through the five stages of transformation)'. Avoiding linear explanations, the narrative is told in an intersectional, transgressive and cubist manner. The book is designed as a parody of the ‘authority’ of the encyclopaedia, intersecting with a sponge cake-like deconstruction.

ESCIF is an urban artist from Valencia, Spain, who has been painting graffiti since 1996. He actively produces murals, interventions in public spaces, videos, installations and drawings that reflect the contemporary state of humanity. His work is characterised by a back-and-forth between poetics and politics, in the vein of the Japanese SIDE CORE and British Banksy. This book is a chronicle of a constant development and quest to continue to define/redefine the foundations of creativity.
